Three tasks were returned to be signed for the return from the break:

Be ready to show me the subject after the break. Enjoy a well-deserved week off! Come back rested and ready to learn :) Complete your sentences for your character mandala. Below is a sample I showed in class and something to consider avoiding as you edit your own work.
Paragraph example for the sun-shadow characteristics. I chose to use a lion to represent Sims in the novel, Underground to Canada. He is a ruthless character and like a lion he preys on the old and weak without a second thought. As his shadow animal, I chose a snake because many people are afraid of snakes. They are venomous creatures. In the story, people are terrified of Sims. He is also somewhat venomous when he strikes out with his whip. Avoid repetition in your writing. I am seeing a lot of this sort of writing. Think about how you can combine your ideas to make your thoughts more clean and clear. I chose to use a lion to represent Sims in the novel, Underground to Canada. I chose a lion because lions are ruthless. Sims is also ruthless. Sims was ruthless when he preyed on the old and weak. A lion also preys on the old and weak. Mandala project - Complete the table and sentences for your mandala for Tuesday - rough copy and be ready to conference.
Homework: Complete the order of operations questions

Continue the pink table and fill out 2 more important life events for Albert Einstein, filling in the entire row (CAUSE - EFFECT)
2. Research! Do you research for the persuasive paragraph. Remember, you want to convince me that you should study this person, so you need to have a global message as well as some juicy bits of information to include in your paragraph. The paragraph itself is to be handed in on Wednesday, March 11. You will have class time on Tuesday to work on this. It should contain: 1-3 sentences introducing some biographical facts that support your global message. 1-3 sentences that describe an event that had a great impact on your chosen person. 1-3 sentences that detail what that person was motivated to do (what contribution where they influenced to make because of this event/situation. 1-2 concluding sentences that tell your global message and why this person should be studied in school. |
